Great students, a little too structured - Online ESL Tutor BoldABC Employee Review

I really enjoyed working with this company and having the opportunity to work with such great students.

There's a lot more work & preparation than expected, especially for being paid per session.

1) the pay is well above minimum wage at $30 per hour lesson (w about a half hour prep time) 2) the curriculum is pre-made for you so there’s no effort there except for when the occasional chapter is missing 3) they find students for you 4) regular year round schedule with breaks for holidays

1) time zone difference with Beijing students means early morning or evening lessons 2) they’re really strict abt having lessons at the same time every week with very minimal allowed rescheduling or breaks, except they’re more likely to let your students move/cancel than the tutors, except if your students cancel too many times they have to pay you anyway 3) it can take up to 2 months to get regular students, since first you have a interview, 5 min sample lesson, then if you’re hired you do sample lessons for prospective students for little pay until someone likes you enough to sign up with you, but then you get a bonus. Also, they never gave me more than 3 students at once.
