Pros

Might be one of the few IT employment opportunities down south in invercargill

Cons

Unrealistic deadlines, with antique code that badly needs refactoring. Realistically the software needs a complete rewrite to keep it relevant on the market. The manager is oblivious to this as it is his magnum optus. This leads to disagreements and code-reviews that nothing happens from. I would think this company has around another 2 or 3 years left before it slowly dies off.

Magnum opus... a term used when hundreds of thousands of people have used a system that you have built and churn is based on people retiring - not to mention the awesome bunch of people that we get to work with. We received your equipment back in mint condition. The monitor still had the energy rating stickers stuck on it.

Pros

Calling BookingTimes a "software company" falls short in a lot of regards - the company is fundamentally a software company, but also fills the role of CMS, CRM, LMS, Email marketing, Website, Data Management, Scheduling System, Accounting Software, SEO Engine, and an abundance of other features and functionality. Even with a full disclosure, I would fail to adequately describe what the system does - simply because it adapts to the specific needs of the user, and the end user. This software now has a global presence and has contributed greatly to the success of thousands of small business and large businesses in the development of their businesses - by doing what the client needs it to do - reliably. This feat of technology remains a subtle whisper on the internet due to an internal decision to not sell the company out to investors and lose the agility required to meet the needs of the BT clients, on both an individual level, but also a total community benefit. The fact that the company has held this position is a clear indication of their core value as well as an unrelenting commitment to excellence over rapid financial gain. This dedication is evident in the key players of the company who have dug in the trenches for over 10 years to build, maintain, update, and expand upon a system that may be the world's only SQL Michelangelo. The software offered is at will - meaning, those who use it (which is an exponentially growing number) do so out of desire, not out of stronghold or sticky contracts. They choose this software month, after month, after month - and the support department echoes that commitment with countless hours spent helping the client family with questions ranging from rudimentary password resets, to feature requests. This is not a software company - it's the Sunday family dinner that everyone with an ounce of ambition is invited to - traditional in the sense that everyone is treated with respect, welcomed, and appreciated as if their seat has always been there, and will continue to be. It's where you go to be encouraged and supported on the battlefield of life - without the sword being taken out of your hand.

Cons

I am a remote worker - and wish I could do lunch with the team every week. That's about it.

Pros

Hands down the best place I’ve ever worked it. Great team, great culture, great software and great role. The team are all an amazing bunch of humans, and they genuinely care not only about you, but their customers too. The software is constantly transforming as the client needs change, and means you never get bored and have a variety of tasks to work on and roles to undertake.

Cons

I work remotely so wish I could see the team in person, so online calls will have to do for now. No other cons than that.
