Pros
Most of infrastructure folks are remote and moonlight on the side. If not for this, majority would have quit already. health insurance is decent.
Cons
Extremely stressful environment with no tangible rewards. Most managers are bullies who expect regular after-hours and weekend work as part of the job.You will do on-call for other regions like UK but UK folks will not do it as it part of the labor laws of UK(that is what you are told). At the first sign of any performance issue , it is always assumed to be database issue and you will be on a webex showing your OEM screen to a crowd and everyone in the call will regard themselves as an database expert. This much scrutiny is absent in other infrastructure teams like n/w, unix etc. Quarterly bonus , if paid out, is in the mid 3 figures before tax. Don't get fooled if you are told anything else . You will hear from HR only twice - hiring and when you get laid off/resign. They are just puppets of management and will not take an independent stand.
