Pros
40% store discount off full price items, some very lovely and dedicated co-workers (most retail staff that I have had the pleasure to work with are amazing people who genuinely care about their customers and co-workers). There is recognition for individuals who meet certain achievements. For example, a customer wrote in to the company saying how pleased they were with the service they received from me, and I received an email from the (then) CEO congratulating and thanking me, a certificate, and a copy of the customers feedback.
Cons
Despite complaints of rudeness, bullying and fraud from both customers and staff to upper management, one particular team member was promoted. I have also experienced Area Managers who gossip and spread rumours about other team members. Despite how hard I work in my job, it is the lowest pay I have ever received from employment. And despite being on a part time contract, I am treated as a casual where my hours vary from 3 to 30 on any week, making it impossible to plan ahead or make consistent weekly payments. I have requested to switch to a casual contract and the request was denied. I have applied for promotions and my application has been ignored (they email you whether you are successful or not and I never received a reply at all). I have also applied for transfers and again my request has been ignored.
