Pros
The pay is decent. It's nice to not be cooped up inside all day. The unionized employees are great to work with.
Cons
Trying to reduce pay. Reduced pension now. Poor hours. Not allowed to be off sick, if you are expect to get a phone call in 8 hours from a manager harassing you about booking back on. Newly implemented "suspension" system works on a guilty until proven innocent system. Something as small as not having your safety vest zipped up can result in a suspension of however long they see fit. Company auditor will deny alot of your claims you are entitled to resulting in stalled payments for up to 2+ months. No time off expect for rest and holidays. Overall poor treatment by management, and always rushed by management to get the job done fast, not worrying about safety. However, it all comes from above them and they are just as likely to lose their jobs from managers above them. The new CEO does not care how many lives he ruins, and refers to himself as "General Lee, except that he isn't going to lose the war against the train crews" pretty sad. Absolutely 0 team environment. Embarrassed to tell people where i work.
