      Everyone cares deeply about journalism and takes care of each other at the newsroom level.

      Cons

      I went through two rounds of layoffs while there. The parent company of the Calgary Herald, Postmedia, continues to make cuts to staff today.

      Pros

      Great atmosphere - great flexibility. Pleasure to work in both the production department as well as the newly formed digital department from 2007 and on.

      Cons

      Industry is slowing down. Advertisers having abandoning the medium and started to put all their advertising dollars into online ads.
