Pros

Amazing place to learn and gain experience - especially for those in junior roles. Great support system; many people are usually willing to help or guide you when you come across roadblocks on a project or even while you're studying for a certification. Fair pay and unlimited PTO. Yeah... that's nice too.

Cons

Sometimes you get put on projects where you're in over your head or overwhelmed because your role for that given project requires things you may not be comfortable with. However, if you are willing to put in the effort to learn, you'll always have support to help you accomplish your tasks. Lastly, this one can be taken either as a pro or con depending on personal preference: While on projects (for about 6-8 weeks) you might be putting in more than 8 hours, depending on skill level and how quickly you learn/adapt. Then when you're "on the bench," there's more of a lax and easy-going work dynamic - where you usually will be encouraged to do an enablement and learn something new and useful, or even pursue a certification that will benefit both you and the company. Some people would like to be on more projects, because it's like a bootcamp worth of experience, while others prefer to get paid to just study - so it's entirely a personal preference and not so much a true "con."

Pros

* Cedrus has a generous work from home policy (generally 1-2 days / week) * Company culture is among the best you can find in this space. Management encourages (optional) happy hours and group activities on a regular basis. * Coworkers are all very smart, motivated and collaborative * In my experience, if this is your first professional job in the tech world, you will learn more at Cedrus in a year than you would at most places in 3-5 * Multiple Fortune 100 company clients to work with * Work-life balance is good. Putting extra effort in on certifications/extra projects is generally rewarded with additional compensation/recognition. * Non-competitive work environment. You feel like coworkers have your back * Many ongoing projects allow a variety of technologies and tools to be used. Often times you are working with the latest and greatest. * Transparency within all hierarchies of the company. * CEO/VPs/Partners are all approachable and welcome conversation/discussions. * If you are a self motivated individual, you will rise. * Little to no traveling in my experience * Company management is receptive to feedback * Benefits are available

Cons

* Health/Dental/Vision insurance is covered partially * You might not always work on a project that 100% aligns with what you want to be doing but always a good learning experience * Can feel uncertain about career progression in the company at times * Work can be stressful at times due to deadlines (normal for this type of job) * Total compensation starts lower than the average for NYC (but there are periodical reviews and adjustment is possible)
