Pros

Most peers are wonderful Can learn a lot from this job to allow you to find a better one elsewhere

Cons

Unsafe covid policies (and forget about paid or even partially paid covid leave) when we're supposed to be setting an example as leaders in Immunology. HR gets defensive when employees voice their concerns. Many employees feel unsafe. Pay is not at all competitive and this is the number one reason turnover is so bad. Salaries are arbitrary, too, among people in the same position and employees are aware of this. Most people leave for about a 20-25% increase in salary elsewhere. Pressure to be available for overtime, changing shifts and schedules often very last minute. Disregard for employee wellbeing. We don't need an ice cream truck we need better salaries and to have our time and energy be respected. Benefits leave much to be desired. So does time off policy. Management constantly refuses to budge or listen to employees. The turnover is so bad that most people are inexperienced. Everything is disorganized. There are delays for everything. You are often set up to fail by not being given adequate resources, tools or time.

Pros

BSM was a welcoming team. The biggest part of this department is feeling that everyone is in it together. Much like any job the work is hard and tedious at first because there are so many clinical trials but after some time you feel really good about being able to finish your work (accessioning samples & shipments) a lot quicker. One more important thing to add is that feedback is definitely welcome, if there is something that doesn't make sense don't hesitate to ask questions about it.

Cons

The biggest thing which everyone in BSM can agree on is when it gets really busy you get worn out. There're essentially no brakes and we have deadlines to meet because if our work isn't finished then all the other departments are stuck having to wait for us. This is definitely a job in which there is no down time and depending on the person that can be a good thing or a bad thing.

Pros

Good inter-departmental communication. Managers and immediate director to my department were both excellent communicators and extremely supportive of their employees. Work life balance was great and benefits were quite good as well.

Cons

The pharma and CRO space is struggling very hard right now. 6 months after being hired, we had our first major lay off. After another 6 months they made even deeper cuts. Between that lay off and myself being laid off I started to notice many coworkers emails suddenly being deactivated or that they were replaced on projects due to them leaving or being quietly laid off. Hopefully they can turn things around, but I would keep one foot out the door if seeking employment with CellCarta. Other than that, there was always some disconnect between teams in other countries and time zones in terms of following SOPs for data or general urgency. This disconnect would often create an extreme sense of urgency to get deliveries to clients on time that could have been solved with better communication and better team leading and error correction in other sites. Lastly, some programs and projects were not very efficient and created less efficient systems than there could have been for completing deliveries and solving problems. Additionally, these systems encouraged a lot of extra busy work that could have been solved in a more efficient manner.
