Pros

Some of the colleagues were the best people you could come accross.

Cons

Everything that happened post-Covid was a disaster. Disinvestment from Saint-Gobain was the kiss of death. Unlike Jewson or Grahams, CTD was bought by a company without any previous experience in the industry, Looking at their share price, it does not seem like Aurelius has any experience in anything but ruining the acquired businesses. There is no control over anything, people with absolutely zero qualifications or experience are left on their own to make (or don't) essential decisions. No one has any answers, no one knows what is going on. We would find out about strategic decisions affecting CTD from reps of other companies we would come across. Management would deny everything by saying "do not believe the rumours" only for the "rumours" to become reality a week later. This means they either lie, or are not even considered important enough by the top management to be kept in the loop. Redundancies are sweeping across the company back and forth. Instead of investing and modernising the company, they would just keep increasing the prices and driving the customers away. No pay increases, no incentives, no bonus, no benefits, no training, no opportunities. The package consisted of a bare minimum wage and back-breaking work. You would not even get a company phone, but your number would be shared with the branches and other employees without your premission. A clear violation of GDPR and pure embarrassment. Equipment falling apart, trucks, forklifts, pallet trolleys held together by expired silicone sealant and cable ties. At the same time directors and reps would get new premium company cars every two-three years. A sad demise of a once great company. Aurelius now cuts off all the smelly bits, like logistics and warehousing, to make the company look fresh before punting it to the highest bidder.
