Pros
Ceres is a company that’s large enough to provide all the resources and support needed to be secure and successful at work. But not so large that I’m lost in the crowd as a number. Upper management, even the top guys, have taken the time get to know me, invite me to events, support me with anything I need, and they treat me fairly and with respect. Even if my location is not the top-earning, fastest-growing headline-maker, I still feel valued by the others and we are part of the team. It’s good. You don’t get that everywhere.
Cons
Ceres is a growing company for sure, and hiring, but not in all locations, so although there going to be room to advance, might mean relocating. Also, it’s true some health benefits have changed, and although maybe not as good as it was, still one of the best around. If you’re looking for work here, just get all the benefits details before you sign on, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Biggest con: Being a stevedore company, we all work on the vessel schedule, not only when it’s convenient for us. Don’t plan on knowing your schedule much in advance, or guaranteeing when you’re time off will be. Work maybe long days, night, weekend, whatever. Be flexible and you won’t break. Just know going in: be warned, your schedule is uncertain. But also know the rewards are worth it.
