Pros
Opportunity to travel across the country, will gain useful organizing skills, my coworkers were some of the most incredible people I knew, but this all comes at a very high cost.
Cons
Employees are expected to work 70+ hours a week at minimum wage. Boundaries between personal and work life are heavily blurred and often not respected by staff managers. Flights to campaign cities are paid for, but you are expected to find your own place to live, which is not easy on such a salary. Management has little sympathy for the personal strain that is put on organizers. No sexual harassment or anti-discrimination training was given until five months into the year-long program. Management refused to take on an anti-racism, anti-oppression framework while doing "social change" work. Management was not receptive to feedback from employees. Employees ultimately told to keep quiet and do as they are told. Leadership struggles to grasp basic concepts of power and identity, which resulted in a form of communication that was disempowering to employees.
