Pros

Lots of kind, hardworking people work here. Fast growing industry that is fun to tell people about.

Cons

Projects that are mis-sold with no way they would ever be profitable get blamed on the project manager. The leadership and sales team do not understand construction so you constantly inherit crap and get blamed for low margins while the sales guy still gets his commission. Sales people are treated with total priority until they have a bad quarter. Then they are more or less shunned, territory taken away, and/or suddenly fired. Most of it boils down to management that doesn't understand what it takes to execute. On top of that you are dealing with a Chinese designed and manufactured product that shows up with missing parts and lots of errors. Quality appears to be getting better, but the frustration has caused fairly high turnover for a small company. Terrible cash flow and consistently losing money on projects and late on payments. Oh, and you get blamed for not being able to meet schedule when they didn't have enough money to order material! This is improving with the recent investment, but the path to profitability is unclear.

CityLift Response
5y
While it can be painful to receive a critical review, we welcome it. It is part of how we get better. One of the great things about CityLift is we adapt quickly. In fact, since this review was posted most of the issues raised have been addressed, including: 1. Recapitalized the company for growth 2. Brought in stronger professional leadership to our operations 3. Aligned sales and operations to have common goals 4. Overhauled product quality with our suppliers 5. Strengthened our US material handling and logistics to better support our operations 6. Achieved profitability the first quarter after this review was posted. While all this was going on, we were adapting to a world with COVID-19! We committed to keeping our team together as much as possible, and knock on wood, we have achieved that. Being in a fast-moving, collaborative environment like CityLift may not be for everyone, and we have a lot of improvements to make. But it is a great place to work if you like a dynamic environment where your personal contribution can make a difference. Thanks for your feedback.
