Pros

Cool mission, nice office, remote option

Cons

Horrible Management. Nobody is aligned and the staff suffers. Male dominated culture and most people working there are for the money and not the mission. Feels like the mission meams nothing for the Berlin office people. Almost all people are ordering food and useless plastic things all the time without realizing how this goes against what the company says it is. Berlin staff is borderline-toxic so great that remote is an option.

Thanks for airing your concerns. While I wish these concerns would’ve been addressed on another channel (like the monthly/weekly 1:1s, anonymous feedback channels like Lattice or with the People & Culture team directly) it’s better to know your perspective on the company than not. As we mention time and time again the company will never be perfect and we depend on inputs where to improve. Mission alignment 93% of the anonymous feedback provided in our last engagement survey from July 2023 (29/35 completed) say that they feel aligned with the mission - which by any benchmark is outstanding. What people say and what they do can be two different pairs of shoes. I feel like you are being unfair to many of the people in the Berlin office who care about what we do. Knowing that we are not perfect we started a working group one week before you left that comment to further reduce waste in the office, which you are free to join. Male dominated culture The male to female ratio is 60/40. I agree that it could be better. What you mean by the term male dominated culture is not exactly clear to me so I'm not sure what could be improved. Feel free to elaborate anonymously via Lattice. Listening to people We can only act on constructive feedback. The one concrete point in your criticism to further reduce our waste is already in improvement. The way and rhythm of how and what information is shared with the company results from constructive criticism. The introduction and execution of processes, campaign ideas and policies directly result from constructive feedback. For that, we need a dialogue and provide multiple channels and opportunities for it. On hiring "friends and pals" We will continue to hire people from our network where we see fit based on historical performance. We are actively encouraging people to recommend former colleagues whom they know did a good job in the past. Over the past 12 months, 3 people were hired (out of 15 total hires) via recommendations or network. If you have any further questions or feedback points, I would be happy to discuss this further with you in a conversation, via our anonymous feedback tool, or the P&C team. Joel Tasche
