Pros

Meaningful area of work with real potential for impact. Many colleagues work very hard. Some are doing vital work to keep the organisation together amidst the chaos

Cons

Fragmented and dysfunctional organisation that has been suffering through a chaotic restructure and endless new strategies since 2019. Weak and often absent leadership whereby strategic decisions are avoided and accountability is non-existent. The Executive Team aren't qualified to perform their roles and lack critical skills and expertise in NGO management. Pervasive mismanagement has most recently culminated in a rapid redundancies process, which has been chaotic, unstrategic and untransparent. It is devastating to see this organisation crippled by the egos of its senior leaders. Systems and processes are dysfunctional at best and most of the time they undermine our work. Un-diverse workforce when you look at any indicator other than gender, with work in Asia, Africa and Latin America led by white men from the global north

Pros

At ClientEarth I get to work with the most incredible team of passionate, dedicated, super smart and fun colleagues to bring about systemic change that protects the environment, which for me is the most important cause to fight for for all life on earth. Our staff really live our values - courage, care, collaboration and integrity - and I actively want to go to our beautiful office to be in the presence of such great people! Working for ClientEarth, we get so many more benefits than simply our pay - there are numerous staff interest groups to get involved in, opportunities to learn and take part in activities celebrating various moments in the cultural calendar, our colleagues share their hobbies and skills with each other, we have cake club, gardening club, a swap-shop, the list goes on. We are also a Flexa employee, and having the ability to flex my hours around my awfully late sleeping patterns is hugely appreciated! I really feel incredibly lucky to work at ClientEarth.

Cons

As a charity there is of course a limit to staff salaries, but as an employer ClientEarth does what it can to be fair, and works closely with its union reps and staff voices to try its best to be as equitable as possible with pay and benefits across our offices.
