Pros

- 401K contribution - remote work option

Cons

- Management is not responsive to concerns of junior staff. - Very poor understanding of equity as it relates to the mission and internal practices. - White mediocrity; White dominant culture. Culture of urgency means people are unwilling to redistribute work and do not respect boundaries. Experienced many "micro" aggressions here - more than any other organization I have worked for. People have also said explicitly racist things without any consequences. - Hard to tell how impactful the work is beyond getting more $ to climate change mitigation. - Feedback is discouraged; projects that are train wrecks continue because people are unwilling to receive feedback and correct course. This seems tied to a lack of humility and inflated sense of self importance. - Internal decision making is unclear (likely intentionally so). There are no internal structures or processes to escalate alternative ideas. - No team culture; very individualistic. Sink or swim.

First, my apologies for the delayed response to your feedback. To prevent delays in the future, we have set up our Glassdoor account to send us notifications when new reviews are added. We are very sorry to hear about your experience at ClimateWorks Foundation. We appreciate all of our employees (both current and former) and value their feedback. Having a positive work environment and culture is of great importance to us and I am sorry that we failed to meet your expectations. You raised a number of points in your review. Regarding issues of equity, we have been diligently working to center DEI/JEDI in our culture over the past few years, including investing in training, systems, and processes to ensure all staff are treated equitably. We also recently hired a new Chief of Equity, Justice, and Culture who will help us continue this important work. I would appreciate the opportunity to listen and learn more about your experiences so that we can work towards making improvements. Please feel free to reach out to me directly or anyone from our JEDI team, to discuss your concerns. We wish you all the best. Best regards, Negar

Pros

* Amazing benefits * Org is making a difference in the world * Tons of people have been here for years, not a lot of turnover * Travel 2x a year to San Francisco or nearby area for all staff retreats and in town week. It's a fun group of people to be with! * In my position there is a good work life balance. I'm not working extra hours and can take PTO easily. People feel comfortable taking time to go to doctors appointments during the day. * room for growth - I got a promotion and have had the opportunity to take a few classes on new skills *diverse employees, culture is welcoming

Cons

* Change happens slowly *Hard to know who the decision maker is on something, people aren't empowered to make decisions. It's hard to reach consensus.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience working at ClimateWorks Foundation. We’re glad to hear you find the organization to be a great place to work overall–that means a lot. We also appreciate your feedback about the challenges that have accompanied our growth. You’re right that we’ve grown significantly in recent years as we’ve expanded the reach of our efforts. While this growth reflects the urgency of the climate crisis and increased philanthropic engagement, we recognize that it has at times affected the employee experience. Your comments underscore the importance of the work we’ve already begun to strengthen our systems, invest in staff development, and improve internal communications. We remain committed to building a supportive workplace that reflects our values and mission. Thank you again for your feedback and for your contributions to our team.
