Small size made it seem like a family environment. Flexible scheduling allowed time off for children or dr appointments.
Cons
Opportunities for advancement were very political and scarce. If you sacrifice for the company, you may or may not receive reward and if you do it doesn't compensate for what you gave. You could be told or promised one thing one moment, and the next day /week - all promises where forgot or changed without explanation. Seniority and loyalty mean NOTHING. Management boost and promotes family type atmosphere for employees, but during transition of growing it became more corporate and political. Decisions made where many times based on the mood of the president, which changed quite frequently.
