Pros

The team dynamic is great, a great deal of care goes into employee fit. It is a breath of fresh air to be on a team where my work-life balance is respected. As long as you get your work done, you can work from home on occasion etc. There is something really exciting about being part of a fast-paced growing company. To a large extent, you pave your own path. Management listens to suggestions and there is no "procedural bottleneck" when it comes to making changes.

Cons

Bison is a startup. Inevitably, the direction and messaging changes regularly. Coming from a larger organization, that was something to get used to.

Pros

Despite nearly doubling their workforce while I was there, Bison remains a very lean company with little room for residual talent. This means that every Bison employee is trusted with significant responsibility, in all departments, and given the freedom (within reason) to complete tasks with a fair degree of creative autonomy. You will not be micromanaged, you will not be pigeonholed to a few routine assignments, you will not get bored at 3 p.m. everyday. This is a hungry company that diligently identifies culture/role fit during the hiring process and trusts their employees to be dedicated to the same vision and future outlined by management. If you're looking for "1 year until Associate, 2 years until Senior Associate, 4 years until VP, etc..." look elsewhere. Sure, the climb is less defined, but you're treated like a Partner on day 1.

Cons

In my opinion, we spent a frustrating amount of time on ill advised sales techniques with gelatinous messaging. In an effort to innovate and attack product market fit, we fell into gray area value propositions with unthought out angles. Disclaimer: This is not the case today but I would be wary about decision making that can feel like blind darts.
