Awful experience as person of colour - Junior User Experience/UI Designer Code Computerlove Employee Review

It has taken months of therapy and a new job to realise how toxic this place was. It felt like I was the first male person of colour they’d ever met. 1) I felt profiled and almost wilfully misjudged from day one. The only bad experience I’ve had in an office role. 2) It felt beyond creepy and vile at times - particularly one higher-up. Young men be very careful around some of these people (read between the lines). 3) Some of the most oversized, toxic, fragile egos I have ever encountered. Embarrassingly childish behaviour from grown adults. 4) All smiles at first - then an escalating pattern of sadistic, emotionally immature, unrestrained behaviour. Very insidious feeling. 5) At times highly reactive - unable to see nuances and so will action in an emotionally charged manner. Think this radiates from some seniors. 6) It’s a bubble - highly limited worldview/experiences. Mates who’ll encourage each others bad ideas. No strong dissenting voices. 7) Embarrassingly haughty considering some of their behaviour, and also that not many of the positive aspects of their culture are even that unique in society. ***As a person of colour you won’t find allies here - in the north or south there are many many workplaces where people are far more conscientious, restrained, and better able to nurture professional and personal development***
