Pros

I really appreciate the sense of ownership I get here. People are trusted to run with their work and try new approaches without a lot of red tape. The mission is genuine and it shows up in the day-to-day work we're doing no matter which team you're on. Colleagues are smart, capable, and easy to collaborate with. You're able to have a big impact quickly.

Cons

Running lean is the double-edged sword. Teams are stretched, and when volume spikes or people are out, there isn't much slack to absorb it. A lot of the structure depends on individual initiative rather than established process, which is rewarding but can be tiring over time. Some policies and systems are still catching up to how fast the org is growing.

Pros

The mission isn't just something that that is just talked about, you feel it in the actual work and hear it in the student stories. Students and communities are the through-line for every decision, which makes it easy to stay motivated. I have a lot of autonomy over how I work and what I focus on, and the people around me are genuinely collaborative. Knowledge sharing is big and folks are generally always willing to pitch in and lend a hand. Also worth calling out that this org takes AI seriously in a practical way. People have actually built it into how they work and are continuously striving to be better at it. Some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. We have some great partnerships built out as well and the opportunity for impact really feels like its always getting bigger.

Cons

The pace and ambition are high, which I personally enjoy, but it can be hard to keep up when scope keeps growing without anything coming off your plate. We run like a tech start up and you have to be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to advocate for yourself when priorities start to pile up. The bar is high and if you're not excited to exceed it then this probably won't be the right place for you.
