Pros

At Codeminer I was always rounded for great developers who can help you to grow faster and mentor you to write better code. I never needed to ask for a salary raise, when the managers noticed my growth they just came to me and notified that in the next month, I'd start receiving more. I went from a very beginner to an advanced level in English in only two years due to their support in English classes and constant charges. Most of their customers are out of Brazil so it's fair to consider English as a requirement to join or to improve over time. Great opportunity to start working with international clients being in Brazil, and with different clients that use various tech stacks. You won't be bored working with the same client. Nice trips and conf parties!

Cons

On the other hand, additional constants and unhealthy charges start happening when you're close to becoming senior. When you work for a consultant company, you're supposed to dedicate 100% of your time to their contract customers, not to internal projects like blog posts, brown bags, workshops, and secondary projects. Writing blog posts and producing content for the company is always great, but it should be done voluntarily and shouldn't be considered a factor to pay employees bonuses and other benefits. That's exactly what they do. Even worse, you have a test to do to join the company, which is normal. But this test persists while you're working there, just because they judge you under their expectations even if your client says that your performance is great. So you tend to be overloaded as time goes by, that's the reason I left.

Pros

- Good support to learn the fundamentals that a junior developer must have. - The natural thing to happen is for you to eventually be assigned in a international project, so you will actually have to use your english skills - brazilian companies see codeminer 42 with great eyes when hiring

Cons

- Eventually, the salary for more experienced mid-level or senior developers falls short of whats is competitive - They pressure will to do more than just working in the clients, talks, courses, training, that kind of stuff, if you don't manage your time well, that can be a huge stress factor

Pros

Codeminer 42 has an amazing selection of developers with a large range of areas of knowledge (backend and frontend). Any applied employee will be able to learn a lot for sure. You also get a chance to work on projects from international clients (mostly east coast US). Codeminer is a great opportunity for start your career at.

Cons

You'll have to be a "boss' pet" if you want to receives the "frequent raises" they promise during their interviews. And that doesn't not depend on your performance at the project you'll be assigned alone. I even dare to say that in most cases, that doesn't even matter. The management will force you to write blog posts or to talk in tech events in order to raise in the Codeminer's ranks. The management is also unpredictable, stubborn and often does not keep their promises regarding raises, benefits and 'improvements'. Feedback is sometimes listened to, but are not even close to be taken in consideration.
