Pros
Benefits were good as they are part of the Desjardins family
Cons
Poor senior management who fail to actually listen to employee needs. Inadequate development and true growth, which only seem to go to certain employees. Lack of diversity, equity and inclusion policies or practices. Addressed an issue regarding Black History month NOT being recognized in addition to a copious amount of other cultural days and months which needed to be spoken about, and seemed to not be taken seriously. More performative action versus actual desire to inspire change as there is a lack of executive buy in. A non anonymous report was made regarding this, which prompted a discussion with a couple senior leaders whom though provided the lip service, never actually followed up with action. In both of my talks with management, I also addressed microaggressions that I have experienced at Collabria, and upper management passed it over and seemed to side with the non BIPOC individuals, by providing ‘rationale’ for the comments. Both senior leaders said that they don't see colour when they look at me....which negates the lived experiences of marginalized individuals, and truly provided a non inclusive environment. My mental health took quite a hit throughout my tenure at Collabria. Company is way too focused on pushing the business and NOT on culture, which was quite toxic. I advised that having a role focused on DEI is needed, and the response I received was 'We aren't ready for that yet...". When looking at the full organizational structure, you can see that they are in desperate need for that as there is not diverse representation. I was also campaigning for a raise/promotion for a while, and it wasn't until I gave my resignation that they offered me more. The amount they offered me however was below market value, and opened my eyes to how they really viewed me and it felt like a slap in the face. I attempted many times to try to create some positive change within the company’s culture by taking initiative to post about days and events that I felt passionately about, and things that would make all individuals of the company feel welcomed and with a sense of belonging, however it became mentally and emotionally exhausting when I realized that the powers that be don't seem to authentically share those values. The people that I work with on a day to day were amazing and I definitely fostered some great professional relationships, however there is a strong need for some true empathetic leaders (of various backgrounds I may add) in that organization and I personally would not recommend working there until some change is seen.
