Would not recommend any prospective applicant apply at Collective Alternative. While I learned quite a lot during my time at CA the negative environment, lack of leadership and constant up and downs absolutely outweighed any positives (by a lot). The opportunities for growth are limited (though they will likely reply that they aren’t), there is an extremely high turnover rate and all employees are overloaded with projects/expected to be “on” 24/7. Now, normally with reviews you can ignore one bad review amongst a group of positive reviews. Typically I’d agree 100%. But you should know the majority of the reviews left were [basically] a requirement for employees to fill out. As for the leadership, I’ll be fully transparent - Amanda Parker is not a business owner I admire. The entire mood of the office shifts when she walks in the door and everyone walks on eggshells until they can collectively establish the mood she is in. She sends emails late at night and during the weekend, in my opinion, to put fear into employees and she is not someone I would consider a true leader. Overall, I would not recommend CA to anyone. It is not worth the stress endured.

I value the collaborative and supportive team environment. I truly value the emphasis on teamwork and the willingness of coworkers to support each other. It helps to foster a productive environment and feels like an actual team.

Pros

One of the things I value most about working with Collective Alternative is the incredible team culture we’ve built. Being part of a supportive, woman-led company where collaboration across departments is not only encouraged but essential makes every day fulfilling. I love that we get to make a real difference for small businesses while helping them grow through personalized strategies and watching their success unfold is incredibly rewarding. There’s also a creative freedom here that allows us to think outside the box and truly innovate for each client. We have all helped each grown so much professionally, and I take great pride in being apart of this, team that is passionate, driven, and genuinely invested in both our clients and each other.

Cons

I think Collective Alternative can continue to grow stronger by fostering a deeper sense of teamwork and support across all departments. Sometimes, it feels like people are trying to carry the entire load on their own, which can lead to burnout. Encouraging a culture where it’s okay to ask for help and where helping each other is the norm, would make a big difference. We all need to remember that there’s no “I” in team, and that we’re more successful when we lean on each other’s strengths. I’d also love to see more cross-training opportunities so team members can better understand each other’s roles, step in when needed, and feel more connected to the bigger picture. That kind of collaboration can lead to more efficiency, less stress, and a stronger, more unified team overall.
