Pros

Cohesion between co-workers and local management is great.

Cons

The company is owned by a much larger Chinese firm and the really could care less about CSI and it's employees.

Pros

It is very difficult to find something positive about this company. I suppose the very lackadaisical environment is something to laud if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Cons

This is where there is a lot to point out. While management says that it supports employees with continuing education and promotion, there is no such thing. Whenever I have tried to use the continuing education program, management listens and then ignores me. I've missed taking many classes pertinent to my position. Also, there is no such thing as promotions. You cannot get a promotion at CSI. Management says that salary bonuses are paid on a biannual basis. That is sort of true. The bonuses are paid twice per year but they are not paid according to the timeline stated in policy. Sometimes the bonuses are paid a month later or months later. And for the past few years, management has reduced bonus payouts to a negligible amount. Another problem with the bonus program is that employees have no idea what the goals are and have no idea what the current numbers are. Mangement is supposed to show goals before a semester begins and the goals are supposed to be slightly different for each department. None of that happens. Another problem is the ISO certification. I have no idea how we get that. I know of documents being deleted before outside auditors could see them. I know that, whenever management acknowledges employees not following policy, they rewrite the policy. This brings up the relaxed environment. There is no such thing as accountability. Employees can do amost anything they wish with the knowledge that mangement will not do anything. Oddly, some people have been fired in the past few years but no explanation has been offered. It leaves the rest of us on edge. There is a performance review program. It is supposed to happen on an annual basis but it doesn't always happen. The scale is 1 to 5. One being the worst and five being the best. The unwritten, official policy is that nobody can be awarded a five. Overall, I could continue ad nauseum, however, I don't think that it would be very productive. Simply put, CSI is not what it advertises and is not a good place to work. I would never recommend working here.
