Great mission, truly make a difference, care and supportive work community, great benefits and PTO

It's a small organization so you may wear many hats, but there is a lot of opportunity to grow.

Pros

I enjoyed working with the stakeholders and applicants associated with the grant program I managed (EMS and trauma providers).

Cons

Worked at CRHC from Jan 2021-April 2024 •Limited growth opportunities and compensation: Annual "merit-based" pay increase is capped at 5% - CRHC does not compensate for any cost of living increases. When I asked HR why the 5% cap, I was told "Just think about how much you’ll be making in 10 or 15 YEARS with the 5% increase every year” (assuming you will receive the full 5% every year). What a great retention strategy. My first 2 annual increases were 5% and my last increase was only 3.5%. Promotion is the only way to receive any significant increase, which is extremely difficult unless senior/manager level positions open - and all leadership and managers have been at CRHC for 10-14 years. Bonuses are only offered to senior leadership. •Heavy workload and unclear expectations: I was pressured to take on additional grant projects without commensurate compensation and was retaliated against when I refused. CRHC does not care about creating valuable programs and services with the grant funding it receives - it only cares about lining the CEO and leaderships' pockets even more (in 2022, CEO received a $60K annual bonus on top of her $284K salary). This bonus was more than my entire salary. In my opinion, CRHC is currently making efforts to conceal its poor and greedy management of grant funding - one example being the recent removal of its "Financials" section from the website that contained its most recent statements (income statement, balance sheet, IRS form 990, etc.). •Unclear communication: There is a governing policy of the Board of Directors related to treatment of staff and outlines behavior that the CEO shall NOT engage in. Even though the policy explicitly states, "the CEO shall NOT allow staff to be unaware of the Board's governing policies including but not limited to, this Treatment of Staff Policy," I was never provided or aware of this policy in 3.5 years I worked there. This Treatment of Staff policy is only *listed* in the employee handbook - there is no copy provided within (unlike the other policies listed which have copies included in the handbook). Policies related to the pay raise structure weren't readily available and decisions regarding pay were arbitrary. They only offer 2 health insurance plans - one that's reasonably priced but you're only covered in Colorado AND limited to a specific list of providers in the Denver-metro area. The other plan is outrageously expensive but you have nationwide coverage and can see any provider you want. This is especially burdensome for staff who live in rural areas outside of Denver metro. An ironic disparity for an organization with a mission to improve healthcare services for rural Coloradans. Lack of transparency and support make the culture at CRHC toxic.
