Pros

Since the company is essentially the market leader in the space you do get some clout from that. Gorgeous office space if you are okay with going into the office with everything going on. The office is in midtown so it's easy to get to from anywhere in the city.

Cons

- The C-Suite plays favorites and if you have a certain look (fratboy/Wallstreet or sorority girl/wanderlust) they will not care how poorly you perform or how many employees report or talk to HR about you. - Some people are the physical embodiment of the above statement. It's the worst kept secret that people spanning many departments dislike some VP's and people in management for their brash nature, lack of empathy, and little to no management experience even though they prophesize played-out, overdone business idioms in a failed attempt to rile up the troops. Some people get a new title every few months no matter how mediocre the departments they let them prematurely run perform. The company is obsessed with pedigree so they fast-track people into senior management and they refuse to allow them to (or admit that they) fail. It must be nice to fit "the look". - The company is growing MUCH faster than they are hiring so everyone is overworked equally making it the standard for people to message each other at night and weekends. Employees are also asked to do tasks far outside of their job titles every time management pushes a large group of people in one department to quit, leaving a gaping hole in our company. When that happens it's all hands on deck as the employees who haven't left the company yet are asked to do their jobs and the jobs of those who just quit. - Since the company really gets paid by developers and not renters real estate, sales, marketing, and the now-defunct design/space team run like an agency appeasing the real estate developers every whim. - The sales and Dev team are revolving doors of employees. Get hired and are full of life, realize the inner working of the company is not what it seems from the outside, try to speak with management to make things better, realize management could care less about their happiness, put in a two weeks notice, and leave. - A LOT of people are now quitting with no jobs lined up because they noticed resistance is futile and they just want to protect their mental health. - Our members (customers) absolutely hate us as we simply cannot provide a good experience because of how short-staffed we are in certain departments. These departments are not deemed sexy enough for upper management to truly fix the issues within them so tape and other small fixes are put over crater-sized issues. - I can go on but I have to get back to work and looking for a new job. You get the point. - Before I go, I'd be remiss if I didn't bring up the fact that we have hit the point where we are choosing company growth over product so the buildings we are starting to take over and onboard are starting to get questionable at best.

Pros

Since my first day with Common, I have been welcomed with open arms. Everyone is very eager to watch you and the community succeed. There support as a company is one of the greatest I have experienced thus far. They have tons of benefits including specials on travel, shows, and experiences. My superior is fantastic and such a great leader. He has shown my constant support and has helped me through processes with patience and guidance. I cannot speak more highly of Common and am beyond excited to be part of this wonderful company! The company strives for growth from within, so if you are great at a specific task involved with community management, they will support and help you thrive to achieve your next promotion.

Cons

There are no cons that I can report! Beyond excited to continue my career with this company.

Pros

Common has all the kinks needed to take the company to the next level. Even with the challenging start-up mode and expectations of a learning curve, the company has policies, procedures, documentation, and operations to achieve its shared goals/purpose. I was nervous about taking the position because I was thinking about all the things that could go wrong, but I remember I took the job, and that's because of my manager, and they have been great! Since day one, they have told me their expectations and committed to training me, and they have stuck to the schedule.

Cons

The company is still in start-up mode, and it's hard to figure out the kinks in communication. A person has to be flexible and organized to avoid getting flustered and committed to the company's goals. It would be best if you are a good cultural fit to come in and knock things down. A learning curve is to be expected here, but you will survive only based on commitment and the manager. I have a good manager who is committed to the success of the team.
