While the work itself was rewarding, I felt that the training provided was not always sufficient before employees were expected to work independently, which sometimes led to avoidable mistakes and unnecessary stress.
The workplace culture could also be challenging at times. There was a noticeable amount of gossip and interpersonal drama among some staff members, which occasionally distracted from the primary focus of patient care and teamwork.
In the Emergency Department, there were instances where staff members were spoken to in a disrespectful or demeaning manner in front of patients. While many of these individuals were highly skilled and knowledgeable in their roles, the communication style and treatment of coworkers could have been more professional and supportive. A more respectful and collaborative environment would benefit both employees and patient care
