Not everyone is fit for this kind of work environment, but if you like a constantly changing environment,

Great colleagues who are dedicated and intelligent. Federal benefits and work life balance (though both are getting worse). Lots of opportunities for promotion or movement between offices, exciting and interesting work.

Subject to political whims. Current Admin has some great policy ideas but is also focused on limiting employee rights/benefits and treats us like the enemy. WFH no longer permitted at all, despite the fact that it was available pre-COVID. Current leadership does not seem to care at all about employees, no presence on site or positive communications. First Trump admin was a much more positive experience, so I sort of expected similar this go around. Morale is currently lowest I have seen it in 10 years of service, many experienced and talented folks have left or lost motivation and people are generally unhappy. Ultimately, however, leadership is obviously cyclical and historically this has been a great place to work. Would not recommend currently, but that is obviously subject to change.
