Pros
Mission driven, and new CEO is very transparent and a breath of fresh air. I do feel like she is a step in the right direction for APA, and I hope she is able to change course of the association.
Cons
This is a huge one....this place is toxic. I loved many aspects about my job, but had to leave because of the people I worked with. The employees who have been here for 6+ years are just...honestly, awful. The gossip, and just the overall dread of interacting with them made it too unbearable to work here. The lack of empathy, and on top of it I had a supervisor who also engages with this behavior as well and indirectly fosters it. My entire team was one gender (female, and I am also female) and the dynamic was just...if you didnt engage in gossip with them, then there was "something wrong with you" and you are "not getting along with the team". It was very high-school, and it disappoints me because this is a mental health org and I felt I had to humor them, so they can leave me alone. It was not healthy. The in office days are just one, long gossip session where they don't even work, they just loudly gossip and talk all day and do not produce any meaningful work here at APA.
