Pros

The opportunity to collaborate with exceptionally bright, driven and kind people. An ambitious and meaningful mission driven by scientific and technological innovation An international environment which fosters ownership, rapid learning and professional growth

Cons

Very fast-paced so needs a lot of multitasking, so maybe not suited for everyone Everything needs to go through the co-founders, so might slow the process down even if it needs to go faster

Pros

Since joining the company last year I have felt incredibly motivated by the work undertaken at Aqemia, united with colleagues by a clear and tangible mission that we all work towards. The pace is fast and things move quickly but that keeps the work exciting and the company at the forefront of its field. The culture is great with a sociable and young team, as well as leadership that you can trust. The offices in both Paris and London are well located and create positive environments for collaboration and innovation.

Cons

The fast pace at which things are changing at Aqemia as the company adjusts to increasing employee count and attempts to transition from an immature startup to a fully fledged company can lead to small teething issues. Some people have voiced that there is too much top down decision making and not enough room for bottom up thoughts and suggestions. There can sometimes be not enough communication between the distinct areas/teams within the company.

Pros

A very ambitious and driven company. The founders are truly passionate about the mission. A great group of scientists/engineers/PL allows for a great working environment. The opening of the UK office has allowed the company to tap into the already established and highly skilled UK life science sector. This is evident by the hires already made.

Cons

Communication across sites could be improved by the company is actively working on this and things have improved. Pension benefit is quite low compared to competitors. The company can feel a bit like a consultancy at times with hires of ex consultants or ad hoc advisory roles, focussing on KPIs, metrics, efficiencies. Some teams have no prior drug discovery experience (or have come straight from academia) which can be a bottle neck at times.
