Pros

Entrepreneurial spirit. New projects are always popping up; however, this leads to a lack of focus stemming from the senior management down. On the plus side, they are always willing to explore new ideas and allow employes to run and manage ideas.

Cons

If you're looking for stability, working in financial services isn't for you, especially in an environment lacking a universal direction.

Pros

I joined Comtex almost a year ago in July 2020. I interviewed with half the team over 3 days and everyone was very nice and didn’t make me feel nervous. When I joined, there was a big learning curve considering I didn’t have a background in business development (came from marketing) or financial news/API/syndication (didn’t know what “syndication” meant). Kan, the CEO, and his assistant were incredibly helpful as I grew to learn the business. So was everyone else. When I fumbled, no one grumbled. I slowly grew to understand the business, sitting in on client calls with Kan, taking notes, following up, handling all inbound inquiries, drafting contracts, and more. Now I take some calls on my own and follow up with clients to make sure we’re fulfilling their needs. The most difficult thing about my job is juggling multiple balls in the air. I keep a “to do” document that I check every day and where I write down even the smallest thing that needs to get done so I don’t forget and nothing slips through the cracks. The 1pm daily zoom team calls are almost always fun (except when everyone seems to need a caffeine IV) and we joke about having a team talent show. PTO is flexible, most of my health care providers are out of network but I’ve met my deductible so that’s fine, and I’ve been remote for a while now due to the pandemic but will start going back into the office over the summer. You accrue 2 weeks’ PTO over the year and holiday schedule follows NYSE. Kan is the nicest boss I’ve ever worked for. I say that reluctantly because I’ve had one other mentor, but I think Kan out-flexibles/supports her with his ease of communication, always asking how it’s going and making sure I’m taking care of myself, and making sure I have what I need to do my job. All in all, I will be sad to leave these people.

Cons

One thing I wish was commonplace is a monthly check-in with Kan to take the temperature of where I am, how I’m doing in the role, how we might position me differently (if at all), and so on. I think it could be helpful. I mean, communication is never a bad thing.

Pros

Decent pay, benefits, casual work environment, remote work

Cons

Lack of direction (company is trying to progress by trial and error), no work life balance, overall insincere and unsafe place to work. This dying company does not care about its employees only about trying to stay afloat by any means necessary
