Pros

A good place to learn.

Cons

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT) is the place to build the American dream, well, unless you're a woman, minority, or both. Lack of diversity, evenly distributed promotions, and very little work/life balance, makes the work environment a very isolating and strange place to work. Once you work here it consumes your soul, and nothing else matters. I have seen this happen to many people, it's like you're frozen in time. Males go on to get promotions and get married, meanwhile women slave under rigid, chauvinistic management and are treated like property. For some employees work is like a social club, whereas for others work is tough and grinding. A majority of employees wake up late, drive nice new state cars, tour the state, and fraternize all day. All on Connecticut's budget. Meanwhile the rest of Connecticut is working a typical nine to five trying to make ends meet.
