Turnover causes issues - Park Ranger Intern Conservation Legacy Employee Review

Pros

Flexible schedule for some positions

Cons

I went through 5+ points of contact throughout less than 1 year of service. Nearly everytime my crew leader would change they would fail to transfer my paperwork, or update me about the new point of contact. I was sending emails to my "boss" at conservation legacy for a couple weeks before I found out they had vacated the position. Your personal time off is obliterated by snow days(you can't go into the field, telework, or go in to office). Better watch out for federal holidays, you don't get those off but it will still subtract from your minimal time off. Hope you don't get sick! I had a twisted vertebrae and received zero sympathy for the days missed, was threatened with suspension. Luckily the department I was working with saw my value and hired me out from under Conservation Legacy.

Pros

Conservation Legacy is very supportive of interns. I had a great time learning at the sight.

Cons

Conservation Legacy has a very bureaucratic process.. so a lot of -sometimes miscellaneous and arbitrary- long forms and questionnaires in the beginning and end (as well as throughout the internship).
