Pros

Great people to work with, and they are currently modernising the software incrementally. The company is small enough that you can make a difference if you're prepared to get involved. The Development, test and business analysis teams work well together, and there's a good balance between prioritising quality and immediate customer needs. They run a solid business that adapted working practices pretty successfully during the pandemic.

Cons

Some of the software is pretty old and pretty complex to work with. If you're looking for somewhere with a well-defined career ladder - you probably want a bigger corporate.

Pros

Immediate line manager was a great bloke. Only positive.

Cons

Apart from direct line manager absolutely zero support or communication. Constant shifting of management and direction. Absolutely zero gratitude or acknowledgement of people's achievements in and out of the workplace. Terrible HR set-up that actually made existing situations worse. Bordering on a bullying atmosphere. Ruins confidence.

Pros

Contigo still have that small company feel as it has grown and grown over the years. The development team has a family feel and everyone gets involved and your opionion matters. They have a nice office in centre of Solihull, great place to work. They have a variety of products which means multiple development work streams so plenty of variety of things to work on. Finally the company is filled with extremely knowlagable people who really understand the energy industry who area really great to work with and don't mind getting involved directly with technical staff to help develop the right solution for customers.

Cons

When I left they were still working primarily with what you would now consider legacy technology so have a big job to bring their technologies up to the latest and most modern available. But that is a struggle I've seen in lots of other companies. Being a built on Microsoft technolgies means there are lots of paths they can take to mordernise and this is an interesting challange that is worth being a part of.
