We had all the makings of a great company, from hard working dock workers and drivers to upper management, but our competition had the edge over us. Although we had some success, in the long run we lost out to our competitors.

I think as a company our management team bit off more than they could chew. They bought out smaller records management companies and tried to facilitate their existing customers. It was just to big a task considering the work load we already had ahead of us. We were later bought out by one of the majors in our industry.

WIth a rapid growth organization you are afforded many opportunities. Some rose to the challenge, while the company outgrew others. While being a start-up company backed by private equity we had all of the tools to grow and entered the top five companies in revenue in this space..

Private Equity offers many opportunities and advantages when implementing a roll-up strategy. However, Private Equity tends to view business development in short investment cycles. This short term vision often is contrary to long term health and stability. Decisions are too often hastened in order to attain short term gain.
