Pay - but you sweat for it

If you are black you targeted every time something happens. You get used as an example for CQC , NMC or to impress parents and commissioners that look into complaints seriously. Other colleagues of different race are let off easily. ProMotion is given on a plate to other races. Nurses are let alone to run wards before they complete proctor ship. They are supposed to do medication with qualified staff until they complete preceptorship. Not at Cygnet Joyce Parker. Medication errors by other colleagues of different race are covered. Staff shortages and staff left at risk Large numbers of agency staff and not properly trained to restrain putting staff at risk Patients are put in seclusion and policies to be checked by 2 nurses every 4 hours not followed. One nurse will sign a get a second signature from someone who is not there Patients given IM medication and policy to monitor first hour by nurse not followed as there will short staffed No proper identification of staff coming in for shift. Some agency staff come one name Staff trainings cancelled due to staff shortages If incidents happen and you are a black nurse in charge they don't involve but do investigations behind you back. You feel as if you are not considered capable yet they let you run ward when they are sleeping. If you are black and have emergency family issues they will not give you emergency leave but tell you take unpaid leave. They know you won't do it. If their colleague's dog or cat has a problem they are given compassionate leave paid to look after their dog or cat.

Pros

Salary was good, raises kept me happy.

Cons

Understaffed like crazy! I was constantly running around like a headless chicken trying to keep up with everyone's needs. You never had enough time to actually connect with the people you were supposed to be helping.
