Pros

Great benefits. Kind coworkers. No micromanagement. Talented minds and industry leaders in environmental research instrumentation. This place is great for the ambitious. You can try new things and they allow you to fail. It's a great place if you're in the right circle.

Cons

Under qualified nepotistic/church hires. Any qualified employee will find it frustrating seeing promotions given to church/family members with no previous experience or training in any given field. Upper management suffers from a case of delusion or faith that this church/family hire will figure it out. No company vision. Lack of brand identity. Runs on "self help" business books. Lack of marketing talent. Discriminatory.

Thanks for your review and feedback. The HR and executive team take this feedback very seriously. Many small companies start by the owners hiring individuals from their social networks. This was the case with Decagon as well. Now that Decagon is a medium sized business and has an HR department managing recruiting, there is a much more strategic focus to ensure that people decisions are made fairly. Decagon is also going through a merger and a subsequent rebrand so there is definitely some truth to the above comment. Sometimes change is necessary in order to reach the next level of growth. However, sales are higher than they have ever been, Decagon is expanding into new markets, and the company is growing both in Pullman and globally. Now is an exciting time to be at Decagon.

Pros

Decagon is headed in a great direction. Using its strengths and building out capabilities in new markets will bring out a bright future. Benefits are great. Workout room (and trainer led workouts), generous insurance, great PTO, etc. Work/life balance is good. Family friendly atmosphere. It's a family business, so while there are many founding family members in upper management and other roles, I see them all as capable and competent in their job roles.

Cons

The great amount of autonomy can be hard on some employees who prefer tighter processes. Things are in flux as changes are made, but headed in a good direction.

Pros

Decagon is a company that has experienced solid growth for the past 15 years, and are poised to continue that growth. Their staff of in-house R&D scientists provide good solid direction on new product development. The development teams are cohesive and use effective collaborative tools to get things done. As others have mentioned, there's not a lot of micro-management, which can be liberating for some, but perhaps discouraging for those who like more oversight. Employees are held accountable for getting work done, however. Decagon also has some of the best benefits in the region, and the Pullman-Moscow area is a great town to live and raise a family.

Cons

It's important to remember that this is a family-owned company for the most part. The Campbell's started this company and they therefore have a vested interest in keeping the family interested in the company's future as much as possible. Some can be put off by this.
