Acquired by ADT

Is this your company?

A house of cards to the unknowing. Floundering and barely solvent. Not for career driven individuals. - Senior Implementation Consultant DataShield Employee Review

Pros

- Flexibility to work in nearly any geographic location - Great co-workers - Aggressive growth intentions - On paper, the company looks solid and growing

Cons

- Aggressive growth leads to unreasonable work life balance for employees. - Requests for personal development and career growth are blatantly refused or consistently pushed out or promised. - Aggressive and litigious post employment activity. (invokes fear to write a review, guessing why the company is registered in Park City,UT while there is no office or employee there) - Delayed compensation. - Delayed travel reimbursement (which as the employee you have to front and then apply to get reimbursed. Delays in reimbursement lead to finance charges that are not reimbursed. - Mandatory overtime (20% more) for months at a time to help adjust forecasting results. -Unclear growth direction/path. - Annual performance review almost non-existent. - No annual performance raise to base salary. - Tyrannical upper management giving direction regardless of consequences. - Products offered and unsupportable services will catch up with the company eventually. - Promotion opportunities only exist when someone leaves or is fired.

Pros

Datashield is a small company with some big talent. I was with the company for little less than one year, but in that time I learned a great deal. That was largely due to the knowledge of my co-workers and the fact that it was a small company, so you had to learn to do more with less. Don't take the "less" comment as any kind of disparaging remark. As I said, they are a small (start-up) company and their infrastructure is still maturing. There is a great deal of passion for the company and for security as a whole at DataShield and it is my belief that this is what drives them and will make them succeed. Pros: - Core group of very talented professionals. - People in management positions that have worked in and understand IT/Security. - Openness of upper management to meet with any level of staff. - Since it is a start-up, you can have the capacity to affect change, if you are willing to step up and take it. - Free snacks and coffee.

Cons

- The infrastructure still needs to mature. - Work load can be overwhelming at times (but mostly only for those that care). - Very long commute depending upon where you are in the valley.
