Pros
Context - this is company, where the shares are largely owned by one person. The Owner/President really does mean well and does have everyone's care in his mind. He's ambitious, has plans for growth and the downturn in the oil market has meant he's become more disciplined and structured. The company (as of 2016) is still struggling to find it's true niche and central purpose; and that impacts on direction and how priorities are determined. The Executive and Director team are very able, conscientious, and are working better together. It is a great place to work; people care and treat each other with respect and honesty.
Cons
The downturn in oil (2014 onwards) meant that some hard financial decisions had to be made, with some layoffs, reduced wages, and greater cash discipline. Unfortunately, it felt that the organization was more being led by Finance, than by the customer. This set up tension within the company, harmed morale, added unnecessary stress, and fuelled the rumor mill.
