Pros

Beautiful work environment, kind director

Cons

Serious issues in ownership and upper management. Unprofessional behavior on the leadership team including yelling profanities at employees. Upper management was perceived as 'being too good' to assist sales associates on the floor. There is therefore little respect from the sales staff towards upper management team. Many of those in leadership positions are not even qualified to hold those positions. Base salary is quite low and is arbitrary. For example, a higher base pay was given to a newer employee with no sales experience and no gemological education whatsoever. Not a good work life balance (to be expected in retail) as you must work evenings, weekends and holidays. No paid maternity leave, little vacation and even less sick leave. HR director doubles as a board executive in the company (CFO). I believe that is what you call a conflict of interest. Nobody felt comfortable going to him as he reports directly to the owner. Toxic employees protected by owner including an older employee making lewd comments and touching younger women. This personally happened to me. Other employee creates a toxic work environment by bullying employees for years but is kept around. Company pretends to care about employees but clearly does not. Overall, a shiny exterior but a rotten interior to be avoided.

Diamond Cellar Response

Diamond Cellar is a seventy-five-year-old family-owned company based in Dublin, Ohio. We strive to be a world-class employer that takes a family-first approach in all that we do. While we manage retail locations, we consider our 5-day work week (10 am to 6 PM, closed Sunday) schedule relaxed compared to traditional retail locations. It is always troubling to read that a former team member had a difficult time during employment. Many touchpoints throughout the week, month, and year allow staff to discuss issues with leadership to provide the opportunity to course-correct. Our median staff tenure is nine years, with 35% of staff over ten years of service, 14% over twenty years, and 5% over thirty years. For the overwhelming majority, it is a wonderful place to work. Our goal is always to grow and become better stewards of this company, and the only way to achieve that is with feedback from our team. Although exaggerated and unsubstantiated, these comments will be shared and used to make this company a happier, more inclusive space for all.
