Pros

Convenient Location, Good and well maintained facilities.

Cons

This place is devestating to self esteem, value, rationality or dignity. As an organisation they obliterate self image with lies, deception and trickary. Manipulation of the truth was thier primary mechanism of attack. This is supported by management, HR and to some extent even the Union representative. If you cut them in half they would say Diamond through and through.

Pros

Many kind and dedicated coworkers Possibility of working on cutting edge science Interacting with academics from around the world on exciting science challenges

Cons

Too many layers of management and too little agency devolved through them Inconsistency in funding new projects - no transparency Repeated insistence on rebuilding wheels in house when solutions exist commercially Management not giving the impression that experimental support, the facility's actual raison d'etre, is a funding priority

Pros

There is the opportunity to work with brilliant people from many different backgrounds and with many different areas of expertise, all of whom are hugely enthusiastic about their work. There are many interesting challenges to work and a fair degree of freedom to work on different things. There is opportunity for public engagement, plenty of training opportunities and great facilities for scientific research.

Cons

There is a lack of leadership from management at all levels due to the frustrations between different goals within the company - are we primarily a service for users or a scientific research establishment? As a result management decisions are not always clear or well communicated.
