Fast-paced start-up technology company with frequent employee turnover - Account Executive Digistrive Employee Review

Extremely inflexible standard work hours (9-6+) make it difficult for those commuting in rush hour traffic or those with family or other obligations outside of work. Upper management is reluctant to let employees work from home or create flexible schedules, although most of the work is technology-based/online. Employees are frequently discouraged from taking vacation time. There is a high rate of turnover in most departments (it is rare for an employee to remain at the company for more than 1 year). In-house sales representatives have to make target numbers every week or they are put on probation and then terminated. Some junior level employees are expected to work a minimum of 50+ hours per week, often including nights and weekends and consistently reaching 60-70 hours per week without overtime compensation. Salaries tend to be lower than average for the cost of living in the city, it is very difficult to get a raise, and bonuses are unheard of. Sales commission for new accounts is minimal to none, unless you are fortunate enough to work on a profitable vertical or re-run accounts. There is a lack of communication and professionalism between departments, and overall hierarchy/structure of the company is disorganized and chaotic. Little to no opportunity for growth or advancement within the company. Management is hesitant to follow through with promises to employees regarding technological support/career growth and advancement/potential opportunities. There is a general feeling of lack-of-stability, given the nature of the industry (daily deals/flash sales).
