Pros

Some of the physicians and co-workers were great people.

Cons

I don't write many reviews and debated on writing this one. If I can help another person from making the same mistake I did then this review is worth it. I left a position I was in for over 18 years to join the team at Dispatch Health. It was sold to me as a thriving, exciting startup that is growing and saw it's largest growth during the covid pandemic. Everything with the position was great for the first 3 months until they blind sided me with a mass company lay off. My biggest question is how can you hire me not knowing the company is financially strained. If they were honest up front I never would have left my position of 18 years. What I believe is more scary is that I'm not sure they even knew when I was hired that the company was bleeding money. I would be very cautious working with this company especially if you are leaving a well established position. From the little time I worked there I could tell they do not know how to budget and that was ultimately how 88 people lost their jobs on 1/17/23. I think they may need to look at who is driving the direction of this company.

Pros

Enterprising part of medicine. They are essentially reviving house calls but with high acuity. Good work life balance. Bonuses are nice.

Cons

Poor marketing. They advertise as ER/hospital level care in the comfort of home or alternate care as they call it. They oversell what they can actually do. They are essentially an urgent Care that goes to your house. They cannot do traditional labs for example cbc, cmp etc. Istat chem8, point care COVID/flu/strep is all they can do lab wise with ekgs, some catheter care and standard med kit. While this is helpful with simple low to medium acuity patients. With how they advertise they attract a lot of VERY complex, and chronically ill patients who absolutely don't want to go to the ER even when they need to. For example heart failure, nstemi, non compliant diabetics in dka, strokes, cardiac patients, a lot of bedbound patients. They get pissed when you have to escalate them to the ER for their own safety but with how the company advertises I can't blame them. Poor management results frequently in locations to be closed and people loosing their jobs. Model used to be APP with EMT. Emts are the ones who operate the vehicle, check-in/consent, vitals, and run test while APP orders tests, I interpret results and documents. But due to budget cuts they are getting rid of Emts and yet they want to increase acuity of care. significantly increases the workload and demands of the single APP.
