Pros

Jewelry allowance, holiday pay, cake on your birthday.

Cons

I was very excited to start my job at Dogeared and join a seemingly fun and super creative team. It lasted maybe two months. Very quickly I realized this was a place where dreams go to die and management has no desire to grow your skill set or allow you to shine in a position you were hired to do. There was so much micro management going on - you practically had to ask to use the bathroom. Though top management seemed to enjoy the "fun" office culture - that was about it. I don't think anyone enjoyed working here and it was very apparent. Everyone constantly complained about how much they hated their jobs. Dogeared was obsessed with creating a fun and vibrant office culture but hardly anyone talked to each other at parties and though being an employed for almost a year I was doubtful that anyone outside my immediate team even knew my name. Would absolutely not recommend working here to anyone - on any level - for any amount of money.

I thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about our Dogeared benefits, it's more than cake on your birthday (which is something each department does do!) Core Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability and life insurance Paid holidays Vacation and sick leave Paid volunteer hours Profit-sharing plan Anniversary Program Parental leave plan, which provides bonding time and take-home pay for six weeks (this includes adoptions and legal guardianship!) Dogeared Dollars — jewelry allowances so team members can drape themselves (and their loved ones) in Dogeared jewels and gifts. Dogeared also offers a combination of special bonuses and perks you can’t find anywhere else! Highlights include: AnyPerk team member discount program – Dogeared employees gain access to 850+ pre-negotiated perks redeemable immediately! There are no limits on redemption frequency and perks never expire. New parent support program, which helps with the transition to parenthood by providing groceries, formula, etc. Electric vehicle charging stations on site WorkLife Matters program, providing guidance for personal issues team members might be facing (including legal and financial resources) Citi at Work program – a team member banking program that offers benefits… including checking with rewards! Scholarship programs Emergency fund program for team members, eliminating needs to take out personal loans /incur interest rates for costly emergencies We are always looking at how we can provide more to our team, so this list can change. We love to grow our teams and invest in people that work hard, and show their commitment to the brand, and that is why many of our team members have been with us for many years. mmc

Pros

I have worked as an independent contractor for Dogeared on and off for over 8 years and one of the reasons I started with Dogeared was their positive messaging on each and everyone of their products. I really felt as though the owners not only made a product that puts that energy into the world but live theirs lives that way and truly care about everyone around them. When I am out in my daily life and mention I work with Dogeared the response is always "Oh I love that company" and I follow it with just how amazing I think it is as well. From getting days off to volunteer, to company days where we get the chance to make a difference in other people's lives to Christmas parties where they spoil us, it really is a great place to work.

Cons

No company is perfect and Dogeared has definitely gone through a lot over the last couple of years (when you grow as fast as they have, there is bound to be some restructuring you have to make). And yes, that includes some jobs being eliminated, super tough decisions having to be made but the owners have handled it with grace and dignity, but I know it has been very tough for some as well as the owners themselves.
