I want to share my experience with Dot Com Media and its CEO, Ninna Shapiro, so other professionals can avoid going through what I did. I applied for the AI Bot & Automation Specialist position posted by Dot Com Media on Jobspresso. The listing mentioned a “competitive salary,” but contained no clear compensation details. After submitting responses to several technical questions, I was invited to an interview with Ninna Shapiro. During the interview, she mentioned that their existing AI Automation Specialist was unable to launch a chatbot into production — and that this was a major bottleneck for their operations. She then assigned me a production-level chatbot development task, asking me to build the system directly inside their GoHighLevel environment (their live workspace). Despite initial concerns about the legitimacy of this request, I decided to proceed in good faith, hoping it was part of a genuine hiring process. The task required full design, logic building, integrations, and testing — not a simple trial assignment, but complete professional work. After successfully developing and delivering a fully functional, production-ready chatbot inside their environment, my access was immediately revoked. Over the weekend, I was then presented with an unacceptable offer of only $500/month, which is far below any professional standard for this role or level of technical work. When I questioned this, I was told I was “not a good fit.” This made it clear that the real intention was to get the company’s client project completed for free under the guise of a “trial task.” To make matters worse, the chatbot currently on their website is a human live agent, confirming that they are indeed seeking a working automated chatbot — the very system I built for them. When I requested fair compensation for the work completed in their environment, they refused. I am documenting this entire case — including emails, screenshots, and access logs — and will be publishing a detailed case study so other professionals can be aware and protected from such deceptive hiring practices. Please take this as a serious warning. Do not engage with Dot Com Media or Ninna Shapiro without a written, paid work agreement upfront.
