Pros

-The projects E3 engages in have a significant positive impact on U.S. clean energy transition -E3 is a well-respected organization within the energy policy and modeling world -Co-workers are nice, smart and humble for the most part -Co-workers are all clearly passionate about and have clear vision for how to execute the clean energy transition -Good place to start after grad school to learn about the electricity grid -Work loads can be heavy, but expectation is that you work ~45-50 hrs/week. If you want to advance quickly, however, you will need to work more than that. -Field of renewable energy has lots of long-term growth potential

Cons

-Projects seem chronically underbid and understaffed, which puts strain on project managers and analysts to do far too much with too little time to keep within budget and timelines -Compensation structure heavily favors partners (typical of consulting firms, but bears mention), with lower level analysts salary significantly below what one might expect to earn in consulting or tech -Senior management can be chaotic or lacking, and still maintain a start up attitude despite company being public and approaching 100 employees -You'll spend a lot of time working on Excel

Pros

Amazing place to work, really great exposure to the energy industry. Very flexible workplace and people are very nice.

Cons

Salary should be higher especially for more technical people who can easily leave for tech jobs.

Pros

People at E3 are great and can be your long term friends. Caring manager. Very interesting and impactful projects. Mentorship provided for young hire to grow.

Cons

Work life balance can be challenging when multiple projects going on. IT/software support lagging. Opaque growth path for consultant interested more on more technical/modeling work.
