Pros
They'll leave you alone to do your job. The only time they call you is when they need something which isn't bad at all. There's a shuttle bus into center city.
Cons
The company will underpay you about 20k. I found this out through various sources. That being said they can only really profit by selling your time to the government. They also just won millions in contracts but the employment market is the market I guess. The company will also expect you to do your training off time unless it is specifically paid for by the government. Not much of a corporate culture here. The company should provide new employees with a packet of information to get to know the Navy facilities and amenities better. For instance I didn't even get a map the first day nor did they tell me there's a shuttle into center city Philly. Also as a contractor you can join the Navy Federal Credit Union. Lots of benefits there. Management doesn't really communicate with you unless there's a problem so you have no idea what's going on with the company. The navy really makes the job a pain. Navy leadership treats contractors like second class citizens. Example: The Navy took away all non-government employee's government parking spots. If you know anything about the navy yard you know that there's never any parking. Also, the navy cops will ticket non-government cars and so will the city.
