Pros

-The kids are wonderful. It is great to see their progress. It can be challenging at times, but you can learn a lot of useful skills to use, especially if you have your own children. -This job is good for people in college (living on campus because you can’t pay rent with this paycheck) studying to become teachers.

Cons

-Horrible management. I had a few good supervisors, but for the most part they are stuck in their ways and don't like to listen to your ideas, even though they only see the kid once a month. Which is exactly what ABA shouldn't be. The supervisors also play favorites. -Inconsistent hours. Parents cancel all the time. It's impossible to get benefits. -Low pay. They pay lower than many other companies in the area. It is impossible to make a living wage if you support yourself. -Constant gossip. They have a high turnover rate, and it's no surprise. -Policies change all the time. Nothing is ever consistent. -There is no room for advancement unless you become a BCBA. -They do not pay for mileage for line therapists, and it's a low reimbursement rate for leads (and it's not until you've already driven 100 miles). It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't make you drive all over the upstate to see your clients. -The stress from the company and its other employees (not the work itself) was enough to make me leave. You do not get the support you need. Ever. -They’ve been investigated for Medicaid fraud. If you want to become a BCBA, go somewhere else. This is not something you want to be apart of.

Pros

At the time I was pursuing a career in Psychology and this was absolutely the perfect job to gain experience. You get to work with a lot of great kids and families and learn so much about Applied Behavioral Therapy! The Leads and Supervisors are really nice and helpful and know what they are doing. They will always pair you with a child you are comfortable with and are always willing to find more kids for you to work with. It's great if you are part-time and are in school. They are very willing to work with your school schedule. A lot of the times they will find another line to take your place and put you back with the family during Summer Break.

Cons

Working with behaviors is always tough. You will come across days where the child's behavior is really bad or the family is having some rough times. There is ALOT of traveling involved and they DO NOT pay milage. You will spend many lunch breaks eating in your car. The pay itself isn't so great when sessions only run 3-4 hours long and it's really tough to see multiple kids a day when a majority of them do to school during the day. Definitely not Full-Time work until you work yourself up.
