Pros
El Rio has very low expectations from its employees, so for the majority of departments, its an easy place to work. In addition, El Rio has a small business, almost a family atmosphere in most departments, so most areas are fun to work in. El Rio has an excellent mission, that is to provide healthcare to everyone, even for free. This makes it a great place to feel good about what you are doing.
Cons
The senior leadership at El Rio is extremely lacking. There is no drive for results, as they do not want to drive for results themselves. There is a complete lack of respect for their peers (and their ability to work together shows it) and in general, almost a complete lack of respect for staff. There is almost no communication, very little training/education (El Rio has a HIGH turnover, so they feel they are training people just to leave). The majority of leadership has never worked anywhere else, so they guard their areas and shut out new views or additional help, and trust almost no one. Every year, employee feedback goes without being addressed, as everyone reports leadership is the root cause.
