Pros

Staff are in the care industry, and are mostly caring people. Can be a good chance to get your foot in the door with little experience. Lots of opportunities to grow by gaining responsibility and picking up slack. Rewarding to serve a disadvantaged population

Cons

General lack of accountability and standards of operation. Can be overwhelmed with added duties when positions are not created or backfilled. Will promote you to higher levels of responsibility without pay, often while still doing old duties. Positions are not focused so you become responsible for things not relevant to your role. Will have to go above and beyond for people who do the least.

Pros

I enjoyed the central location in Boise/Meridian.

Cons

This company has a very specific culture that is hard to break into. They are disorganized, they lack proper training for many of the positions, most of mid-management are bullies and lack accountability using lower staff to scapegoat for their oversights. As with any employment in human services you will find some very good-hearted people who excel at their jobs, care about what they are doing, and are wonderful to work with, at least. At Embassy, if you experience any difficult circumstances with co-workers or supervisors do not expect management to help or support you, especially the HR department. The company as a whole is profit driven and both the clients and employees suffer accordingly. This company seems to have a specific idea of what kind of employee they are looking for. This may have something to do with the strong ingroup dynamic of the employees who have been there for a long time. This unfortunately leads to unspoken rules that lead to isolation and exclusion for the newer employees. The power dynamics are clear and the climate is not a welcoming one, and so the company is not one that promotes growth as much as conformity. But, as with any company, some positions will be better than others. Choose wisely, and good luck!
