Pros

A mission to help others and people who cares. There are many good people who work here. There is a lot of good work that gets done in spite of problems with leadership. Some divisions and areas are strong and becoming cohesive teams that are doing good work.

Cons

Leadership seems to be either absent (Mike) or negatively pushing on other staff (Linda) and unaware of the problems that they are causing. They preach accountability for direct service staff while seeming to have no accountability of themselves. There is very little and rather poor communication that comes from leadership. There are issues and lots of negativity in the company culture. Many employees feel both ignored and micromanaged which again comes form the top. There is lots of favoritism and preferential treatment which is great for the lucky favorites but is unfortunate for everyone else.

Pros

Regardless of the negative, there were a few positives. The foot soldiers, meaning other coaches, volunteer members, and the Associate Director of Workforce Development are all working towards a purpose and to truly help those in the community. So, you have a lot of great close people to work with. In addition to, it is rewarding when you can see a participant go from rock bottom to living a fulfilling life.

Cons

First cons: Disorganized and Chaotic. There is NO value for their staff and for all of the hard work and dedication put into your time there. Management is uninvolved with the work that is being done but is quick to criticize you for what they think is wrong. Your input is NOT valued and the compensation is lower than any other nonprofit in North Minneapolis for 10x the work you put in. No opportunities for growth. It is becoming more corporate like with micromanagement and no flexibility. Work is piled on you for long periods of time until you eventually burnout.
